Anna Mae Bullock began her life picking cotton in the Tennessee dust bowl, a lonely child who found her only solace in the echoes of gospel choir. When she met Ike Turner at age 17, the world met a force of nature that would redefine rhythm and blues. This documentary follows the rise of the Ike and Tina Turner Revue, a high-octane stage show that conquered the UK and fascinated rock royalty like the Rolling Stones and The Beatles.

While the music was spectacular, the reality behind the curtain was a climate of fear. Ike Turner ruled his empire with a rod of iron, fueled by addiction and a desperate need for control as his wife became the true star. You will hear how Phil Spector famously sidelined Ike to capture the "Wall of Sound" perfection of River Deep Mountain High, and how Tina’s iconic role in Tommy proved she was a one-woman sensation. After years of hardship, she walked out of a Dallas hotel with nothing but the clothes on her back and 36 cents, eventually rising from the ashes with the help of David Bowie to claim her throne as the Queen of Rock and Roll.
