On July 20, 1975, during a concert, Elvis Presley noticed a little girl standing quietly at the side of the stage. Realizing she was blind, he walked over, knelt down, and gently held her hands. He spoke softly to her—words the crowd couldn’t hear—then kissed his scarf and touched her eyes with it.

The girl stood calmly, trusting every moment. After the show, Elvis spoke with her mother—and paid for the surgery that restored the girl’s sight.

Today, she’s a computer graphic artist.
