On November 5, 1957, Elvis Presley, age 22,
departed from Los Angeles
on the SS Matsonia for his first visit to Hawaii,
which included performances
and a love for the islands that would grow over time.
He arrived in Honolulu on November 9,
where 4,000 fans greeted him.
He performed two concerts on November 10
and a third for soldiers at Schofield Barracks,
making it his last public appearance before his Army service.
