Elvis was famously interested in spiritual readings,
and in 1976 The Omen captured the imagination of many Americans with its investigation of supernatural religious subjects and themes.
The Omen film was released just a week before Elvis is seen in Shreveport with the book. 
It ended up grossing over $60 million at the U.S. box office
and becoming one of the highest-grossing films of 1976.
