Two years ago, Paul McCartney turned to artificial intelligence to help complete what was described as the “last Beatles song.” In what seems like an attempt to recapture that success, McCartney has once again embraced AI, this time on two additional songs. The tool he relied on, known as MAL. MAL was designed to isolate and extract specific sounds from old recordings. It succeeded in separating John Lennon’s vocals from two low-quality demos he had recorded shortly before his death, making them sound strikingly clear, as though Lennon had recorded them with modern equipment.
