Hey guys, hope you're all well.
I saw the Elvis biopic recently and 'If I Can Dream' really stuck with me - I had to record a cover for Youtube!!
The tune made famous by Elvis was written by Walter Earl Brown for Elvis' comeback special in 1968 and was a huge global hit. Brown was asked to write a replacement finale tune for the NBC special and knowing of Elvis' fondness for Martin Luther King the song honoured the legendary civil rights activists tragic death.
The song draws multiple similarities with MLK's famous 'I have a dream' speech and Elvis proclaimed after hearing his own demo - "I'm never going to sing another song I don't believe in. I'm never going to make another movie I don't believe in".
Its a truly impactful number - I hope you all savour its lyrics as much as I did.
