In 1975, soul legend Jackie Wilson collapsed on stage during a performance and suffered a massive stroke, leaving him in a coma as hospital bills quickly piled up. News of the tragedy reached Elvis Presley, who had long admired Wilson’s voice. Elvis turned to his aides and asked quietly, “Is someone taking care of him?” When he heard the family was struggling with medical costs, he told them simply, “Send some money… make sure he’s looked after.” Soon after, Elvis sent financial help— around $10,000, a huge amount at the time—to assist with Wilson’s hospital care. There was no announcement, no publicity. Just the King of Rock and Roll quietly helping another legend when he needed it most.
