Don't Be Cruel is a song recorded by Elvis Presley and written by Otis Blackwell in 1956. The single was backed by "Hound Dog" and that song, within a few weeks, had risen to No.2 on the Pop charts. Soon after it was overtaken by Don't Be Cruel, which took No.1 on all three main charts in the U.S., Pop, Country, and R&B. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002 and in 2004, Rolling Stone magazine listed it at No.197 on their 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list.
A good friend of mine, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, sent me a YouTube video of a young person skipping rope to the original song. After watching that, and listening to the music, I just had to try my own rendition of it.
