I've tried to present this song as the way it was played on the original recording, but this is a piece that is very open to interpretation. It's worth noting that CCR used guitars that were tuned down a whole step in the mix. There's no reason you can't use simple open chords for the G, C and D majors. Alternatively, you can strip everything down to power chords and it still sounds great.
