Creedence Clearwater Revival's hit song "Proud Mary" was released in 1969 as a single from their album Bayou Country. Written by John Fogerty, the song quickly became a major hit in the U.S., reaching the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 1969. 

Creedence Clearwater Revival, commonly abbreviated as CCR or simply Creedence, was an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California, in 1959. The band consisted of the lead vocalist, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter John Fogerty; his brother, the rhythm guitarist Tom Fogerty; the bassist Stu Cook; and the drummer Doug Clifford.
