In 1957, 13-year-old Brenda Lee met Elvis Presley backstage at the Grand Ole Opry. “Actually, it was my sister who had the crush,” she recalled. “But of course, we were all Elvis fans—he was part of our lives.” Years later, the tables turned: Elvis himself contacted Lee’s record label asking for an autographed photo.
