My Thoughts On The Song/Chart: One of Creedence's biggest classics that defined "Swamp Rock" CCR is a huge staple of Classic Rock Radio so i often hear this tune along with many of their other big hits at times. The chart is easy despite its longer length.
Song Facts:
"Born on the Bayou" (1969) is the first track on Creedence Clearwater Revival's second album, Bayou Country, released in 1969. It was released as the B-side of the single "Proud Mary" that reached No. 2 on the Billboard charts. The song was covered by Little Richard.
Songwriter John Fogerty set the song in the South, despite neither having lived nor widely traveled there.
Creedence Clearwater Revival performed the song at Woodstock.
Belying their origins in the East Bay subregion of the San Francisco Bay Area, the band often played in a Southern rock style, with lyrics about bayous, catfish, the Mississippi River and other elements of Southern United States iconography. The band's songs rarely dealt with romantic love, concentrating instead on political and socially conscious lyrics about topics such as the Vietnam War.
