Last summer’s hike on the PCT in northern CA, was abruptly ended by the Park fire, the 4th largest wildfire in CA history. This summer, we hike through the burned out remains of the Dixie fire (largest single wildfire in CA history) as we continue the southbound journey to Mexico. Last summer, we returned to the Wind River Range after evacuating CA. This song by Creedence Clearwater Revival kept running through my head as I tried to make sense of the horrors of last summer’s fire. Hopefully, they’ll be no “Bad Moon Rising” this summer. Fingers crossed. ????
