August 15, 1977: Elvis Presley died at 42 from a heart attack. His daughter Lisa Marie was only nine and was at Graceland. What few knew: the night before, Elvis left a voicemail for her. Recorded August 14, 1977, at 11:47 PM, his voice sounded tired and slurred. A maid saved the message and later gave it to Lisa Marie. In a 2010 interview, Lisa Marie said she never played it for anyone. Not her family. Not her husbands.

"The moment I share it, it stops being mine," she said. It was the last thing just between her and her father. When asked what he said, she answered, "That's between us. Forever." January 12, 2023: Lisa Marie died at 54, also from a heart attack. She was buried with her phone. Some words are too sacred to share.
