Proud Mary and Shake A Tail Feather are the greatest songs that Rock and Roll ever produced. Tina Turner immortalized and cemented her place in Rock and Roll on the strength of those two songs alone, but the hits kept coming.
Born on 11/26/1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee, Anna Mae Bullock whose name would later be changed to Tina Turner when she paired with Ike to become a member of his group, has sold more than a 100 million albums and is one of the Greatest Rock and Roll Artists of ALL time. She is the First Black Woman to have been on the Cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. She is the holder of 12 Grammy Awards---far too few if Beyonce' has more. In 1988, Ms. Turner set a Guinness World Record for the largest paying audience (180,000 people) for a solo performer. She is currently a Swiss citizen and is living out her life in European luxury, as she deserves. Tina Turner's life story is an American Dream come true. Better Be Good To Me is one of my favorite songs. ~~Shannon
