Bette Porter, Shane McCutcheon, and Alice Pieszecki mingle with a younger generation of Los Angelenos going through love, heartbreak, sex, failure, and achievement.Ilene Chaiken, Michele Abbot, and Kathy Greenberg co-created The L Word; Chaiken acted as the series' principal creator and executive director, as well as a writer and director. Additional executive producers were Steve Golin and Larry Kennar, and the series' writers included Guinevere Turner, Susan Miller, Cherien Dabis, and Rose Troche.The show debuted on Showtime on January 18, 2004, and lasted six seasons until concluding on March 8, 2009. The L Word was shot at Coast Mountain Films Studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, as well as on location in Los Angeles, California. The series is distributed internationally by MGM Worldwide Television and is syndicated by Logo TV and Netflix.
