The Sad Decline of Tina Turner Before Her Death

In the final chapters of her life, Tina Turner, the electrifying Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, faced a series of private battles that starkly contrasted with the powerhouse image fans had come to know and adore. While the world remembered her for her explosive stage presence, iconic vocals, and triumphant comeback, her later years were marked by declining health, personal loss, and a quiet retreat from the spotlight.
After moving to Switzerland with her longtime love, Erwin Bach, Tina seemed to embrace a peaceful, slower-paced life. She became a Swiss citizen and often described her new home as a place of healing. But behind the calm exterior, Tina was confronting a series of debilitating medical conditions that began shortly after her 70th birthday.
She battled high blood pressure, which went undiagnosed for years and eventually led to kidney damage. In 2016, her health took a sharp turn for the worse, Tina was diagnosed with intestinal cancer. As treatments weakened her body, she was dealt another devastating blow: her kidneys were failing. Facing the bleak prospect of dialysis for the rest of her life, Tina considered assisted suicide, a legal option in her new home country.
In one of the most selfless acts of love, her husband Erwin stepped in, offering one of his kidneys to save her life. The transplant in 2017 was successful, but Tina’s health remained fragile.
