On October 16, 1960,
Elvis Presley fractured his finger
while playing football at Graceland
and was hospitalized overnight in Memphis.
Surrounded by teammates and girlfriend Anita Wood,
he joked with nurses and even signed an autograph using his injured hand.

He was initially treated at the Campbell Clinic
before being moved to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis
for an overnight stay.

Despite the pain and the doctor’s orders to stay longer,
Elvis insisted on leaving the next morning, saying,
“I have no business in a hospital.”
